Whether your site is served by rail or not, WasteByRail offers a complete custom transportation and disposal solution for solid waste generators, shippers and handlers.
Custom Waste Transportation Services
We can set up service for waste by rail with either dedicated “waste trains” or through custom transportation services including full service direct or non-direct transportation. Customers can choose direct rail, truck to rail or multi rail using intermodal rail containers or gondola rail cars depending on the waste type.
WasteByRail can either collect solid waste and deliver it directly to the intermodal receiving facility or coordinate the process if it is collected by municipal or private vehicles. Our custom waste transportation services are designed to help our customers streamline business processes, enhance productivity and reduce costs.

WasteByRail provides a variety of transportation modes to coordinate all your waste disposal transportation needs.
Intermodal Rail Containers
Available in a variety of sizes and shapes, intermodal rail containers are loaded at the waste generator’s facility and delivered to the nearest rail yard for transit and disposal. Intermodal containers are often used for compacted or non-compacted construction and demolition (CDL), municipal solid waste (MSW) or for special wastes.
Gondola Rail Cars
The gondola rail car is typically used for hauling bulk materials such as contaminated soils, glass or other bulky commodities since the payload capacity can hold up to 114 tons. A variety of landfills are capable of receiving gondolas and off-loading for disposal.
Motor Carrier
Waste can be brought to the railhead by truck on transfer or chassis containers such as open top end dump trailers (pictured below) using either a Waste Management fleet or by a third party carrier. WasteByRail serves many private companies and public municipalities with dedicated transport and disposal contracts. We can arrange over-the-road transportation services to meet your unique needs.
