Do I have to have a landfill or a railroad near my facility?

No. We can develop a transportation plan for you once we understand your waste disposal needs that will incorporate landfill operations with transportation options.

Why should I consider disposing of waste by rail rather than truck?

There are many considerations to make when you are deciding what form of transportation to use including the type of waste you need to transport. Rail does offer many benefits over trucks---from the reduction of traffic congestion by keeping trucks off the road to a seamless “out of sight, out of mind” transfer of solid waste. We can give you the pros and cons for your particular situation.

What does it cost to set up a waste by rail program?

The cost to set up a program depends on several variables such as volume of waste, waste type, and transportation modes. We will evaluate your needs and provide you with a proposal or quote for service.

How much waste can you handle and is there a minimum amount necessary for rail transport?

We serve all waste generators from large to small. Larger volumes of waste provide greater economies of scale so they are more cost-effective for rail. We will evaluate your waste stream and volume to determine the best options for your needs.

Can we combine waste streams with other commercial generators or municipalities to create a greater annual volume?

Yes. Scales of ecomomy definitely come into play and can drastically reduce the costs for all parties involved.

What kinds of waste can be transported via the railroads?

Yes, regulatory issues are an important aspect of rail transport and are usually based on state and local regulations. WasteByRail provides guidance and knowledge about regulations for most states.
